A New Chapter Begins at Shackleton!
We’re absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news: Shackleton International School is now officially an authorised IB World School!
Starting in September 2026, our sixth form students will have the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), one of the world’s most respected and transformative educational programmes. It’s a major milestone in our school’s journey and a proud moment for our entire community.
This achievement is the result of months of dedication, preparation, and collaboration led with vision and commitment by our Head of IB, Alicia Ocón, and supported by our incredible team of secondary teachers. From the very beginning, our goal has been clear: to offer a forward-thinking, international education that empowers young people not just to succeed, but to thrive. The IB allows us to do exactly that.
The Power of the IB Programme
The IB Diploma Programme is more than just an academic curriculum; it is a philosophy. Aimed at students aged 16 to 19, the programme offers a broad and balanced education designed to develop critical thinking, curiosity, resilience and a strong sense of global responsibility.
IB students cover six subjects across different disciplines while completing three core components:
- the Extended Essay,
- Theory of Knowledge, and
- CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service).
